Here’s John (left) and Skip (right) and me, doing what you do after a long day of hiking in the Scottish Highlands: drinking beer and smoking cigars. I’m half invisible because I moved out of the composition immediately after the flash fired. For those interested in the details: I used a fill/slow flash to light our faces while retaining the natural light behind us. This required a long, 28-second exposure, leaving me plenty of time to exit the scene. Skip and John, however, had to stand still for the full 28 seconds. Considering the impressive arrangement of empty pint glasses on our table (artfully cropped from the photo), I’d say they did an admirable job!
